Hidayah Got Hitched - Part 3 (The Reception @ Home)

After the solemnization, with the big help from Duffy and his team (namely, the photographers on duty), we co-ordinate the photoshoot session... everybody got like 10 minutes to take photos with the newlyweds... got advice from mom's friend that the host should organize to invite the groom's side to take photos with the bride and groom first.. then, hubby and MIL ushered the groom's side to next door to rest and have some light refreshments while waiting for the groom to change for the reception..

Daia pick yellow and green as the wedding theme... it was off-white & pink for the solemnization... by noon, guests were non-stop... lucky we took lots of canopies... mom and dad has lotsa relatives... and they came all the way from Kedah, Perlis.. Singapore and even Sabah as well... my dad already requested for the caterer to top up the food... just in-case..

By the time Hidayah and Qhairul got dressed-up, the time was already 1 p.m... just in time... but then, the Kompang team hasn't arrived yet... the Head of the kompang team is non-other than Pakcik Karim.... my dad's relative as well... i like his energetic Kompang team... they played the kompang during my wedding as well... should have got this for my MIL during my BIL's wedding but since her nephew already recommended his team, I didn't want to interfere... heard my uncle calling Pakcik Karim asking when are they going to arrive... alhamdulillah he arrived shortly after that.. It was zohor time already so the DJ decided to give way for the azan first... then, hubby realized that daia forgot to get the umbrellas for the bride and groom... Dangggg... lucky it was not that hot... then.. nobody to recite the prayer... OMG... how could we forget all these details.. and suddenly hubby pulled mom's brother from Sg. Petani... almost forgotten that he always lead our prayers before this... thank God again...

after the azan.. the DJ announced the arrival of the groom and the kompang ppl took over from there.. the groom was so eager to see his bride that he left his best man and his family as well so far behind... we even have to ask him to slow down... blame the long legs! LOL!!

my lil' munchkins cannot stand the loud kompang...

lin's father (from Singapore) who was kind enough to perform his Silat in front of the bride and groom... he too performed during my wedding 10 years back....

the high table.. 2nd from right: former IGP, Tan Sri Rahim (my dad's 2nd cousin) and wife came too..

orang2 kuat also want to pose, okay...

hubby got a 'rival' now... not the only 'menantu Abah' anymore... better be good.. :p

Hidayah Got Hitched - Part 2 (The Solemnization)

Saturday, 23 April 2011

Morning:

I woke up really early.. got to get my kids ready.. got to get myself ready... got to see if everything is in place.... the solemnization was suppose to take place around 10 a.m... the make-up artist is here already.. so does the caterers, photographers, videographers, DJ....

 hubby, me and Daia..

 the DJ

some of the Hantaran gifts to be exchanged..

Overall, the ceremony went well..... my dad was a bit emotional.. as usual... it must be hard for him to 'let go' of his daughter.. the speech from the Kadi was very touching... somehow, i went emotional as well.. remind me of my own solemnization...

it was hot and humid but thank God everything went according to plan... of course there are minor glitches but hey... we are not perfect okay... so sorry if we offended any party during the ceremony... anyway, after the ceremony i had to take charge to call upon anyone to take photos with the newlyweds... but we had to do it fast.. i had to do it according to groups... the bride and groom had to change for the next ceremony - the Reception (@ house)... hubby and my MIL were in-charged of entertaining the groom and his family at our house, which is next door!... convenient, huh? here are some pictures...

Hidayah Got Hitched - Part 1 (Malam Berinai Kecil)

My younger sister has arrived just in time before the wedding... Angah traveled at her own expenses just to be at our youngest sister's wedding... the timing was perfect... after her exam....

now to flash back everything..

Morning:

Mama (my mom's younger sister) was the first to arrived... her task was to bring my mom to buy all the fresh flowers, send some to the florist to make the Sireh Junjung... me and Angah started to arrange the bunga manggar.. this whole week was very hectic.. but Angah made sure that Daia had her hair done, manicure and body treatment was done at my spa... BLISS! and I found out that my sister was the first person to try the body treatment there and thank God she really liked the treatment...

we thought of going out after the bunga manggar is done but then aunty suzy arrived to send the cake and some chocolates for hantaran... so we can only leave the house at noon..

Noon:

Angah picked up her car keys.. and i was like "you want to drive? and she was like "kenapa?"... then she gave me the keys and agreed that i am a faster driver... so first stop is Pertama Komplex to pick up the wedding bunting... courtesy of the wedding invitation card printing company but it was only ready few days back..

then we drove to Semua House.. need to find Daia's gold shoes.. but no size.. but the salesgirl was helpful enough to reserve her size at their Ampang Park outlet.. i got a pair for myself as well.. and suddenly Angah excused herself masa tgh pilih kasut... sempat got myself a shawl to match with my green baju kurung from Aked rm10 je :D... i bought the same shawl (different color) for rm30 each at Carrefour Wangsa Maju in January!! pffftttt!! after that pegi balik Semua House to pick-up Qhairul's baju songket for tomorrow.. suddenly Angah appeared from nowhere with lotsa dinner bags... macam2 color... that's my shopaholic sister.. tapi within budget pny shopaholic la... LOL!

next stop is Ampang Park... i just drop my sisters there to pick-up hidayah's shoes... i took that opportunity to doze off in the car... BLISS!! then went to another tailor to pick-up Angah's baju kurung... despite calling the tailor so many times and being assured that her clothes are ready.... to our surprise, the alteration was not done yet... nak marah pun tak guna... asked her to finish up everything immediately.... by the time we got home it was already 6 p.m!!

Evening:

Since most of our close relatives were in KL already, might as well we squeeze in Malam Berinai Kecil into our itinerary.. orang Melaka kalau tak ada Malam Berinai Kecil, memang tak meriah... i even had mine in 2001... with lotsa fireworks (courtesy of Pak Uteh Ali).. i think all my cousins have that.. dekat kampung lagi besar lah mercun nya....so for Daia's, hubby volunteered to get the fireworks.. dia jealous tak dapat join masa my malam berinai...

 Nura and Lisa

 the guests..

 the bride to be..

 the fireworks..

The dedicated bride's sister... LOL!

In Malam Berinai Kecil, the bride get to dress-up and pose on the dais... and we all get to 'merenjis' her... i'll get the correct English term later for this... and then she changed a few clothes.. and of course got some food.... :D... and the fireworks.... that's about it... she had her henna done the night before so we didn't get to put some on her... oh yeahh.. some relatives helped us out with some other preparation - bunga pahar, signage, bunga dodol.... etc...

Another Engagement - Izhar's

This one is about my BIL's engagement... a month after my sister's engagement.... during my sister's engagement, we borrowed my MIL's dulang tembaga... mom and me made the lapik dulang ourselves... and mom's maid did the finishing touch... wasn't that great la but the point is.. yess i can sew.. i can use the sewing machine (including the mesin jahit tepi)... my mom used to sew curtains, bedding set for weddings and table cloth for extra pocket money... inspired by her nice friend... and i used to help... because i wasn't the fumble one.. and i WAS a bit on the artsy side (got it from my mom - my dad can't even draw a straight line!).. yesss.. when i was younger, i had this habit of hanging my clothes the front side facing to the left of the wardrobe.. i would arrange my clothes according to length and type... and my best friend taught me how to fold my clothes perfectly when i went to boarding school last time... and because of this, hubby and myself always had some 'disagreement' cause he will always ruin my hasil kerja by 'ransacking' the wardrobe... hahahaaaa... dahlah i am very slow in doing my work... as time goes by.... the habit wears off... cannot beat them, so i joined them... hahahahaaa... less stress... LOL!

back to the engagement thing... everything went as planned... the event was held in Nilai... and it was hot that day that my daughter's face blush all the time... cute...

here are some of the pictures from the event...
