Are We a Good Child to Our Parents?

I came across one of my SSPian senior's FB status:

 "At which point does a parent's financial obligations end these days? I'm seeing more and more 'kids' (fully grown adults with steady incomes) expecting to be GIVEN money for everything from cars to home deposits. At the end of the day, it's the parent's prerogative to agree or offer, but as adults, why should one be asking? Gone are the days when giving your parents an allowance is the norm."
